Yarn Sisters - English

Before we start, thank you for this opportunity speak here and everyone's hard work to put dyke march together. Our stories come from our lived experience as queers and dykes from China and living in the Netherlands. We are aware of that many communities and individuals face different risks; some are dealing with situations similar to ours, or even more dangerous ones. To speak here is a privilege. There are groups and communities with less visibility who hold so many untold stories. We hope our words resonate, standing together in mutual aid and solidarity.

Imagining through Threats

Perhaps this is one of the few ways I could tell the story.[1]
And perhaps this is the only language I could use.[2]
“My friend was harassed by Chinese policemen because I joined pride parade in Thailand.”[3]
This was a sign held at Pride parade in Bangkok this year.
“Pride" is something that you can only seek outside China[4] -
Where you can speak “freely”[5] about queer rights, women’s rights, trans rights…
However, our government not only sees “Pride” as illegal activity,
It also perceives individual queers as threats.

Does this authoritarian narrative sound familiar to you?
Just like how the Trump administration viewed the Palestinian liberation movement -
“Foreign Forces.”
Just as the Chinese government sees Chinese queers as -
“Foreign Forces.”
Authorities separate us: queer communities from different heritages, from each other.
Here, we serve as a diversity tokens.
There, on the other hand, it is treated of cultural invasion.
Those who speak up first are viewed as having been brainwashed by the “West.”
They said, “She must have been brainwashed by Western forces.”
Do you live a double life?
One part of you, in spaces where you feel safer, let your voice be heard and you joins the protests.
Another part tries its best to stay safe, leaving no trail to be traced by your homeland,
wishing them to believe that you are just a good, ordinary Chinese.

But when we were here, we became targets of street attacks.
Never felt safe; never felt as though this street was ours.
Not a single day, not a single night.
But today, we try to take it back again - to claim it.
We are tired of police threatening us from here or there,
Of fear, and of not being able to go home without harassment.
But today, I am a a Chinese queer,
Standing here to imagine our future, and to imagine
The way to die one day, with respect and dignity.

Today we march, thinking of dykes threatened by a somewhat government.
We are tired of pinkwashing and rainbow capitalism.
What if being queer has become just a fashion item?
But you must also know that coming out is a luxury.
When we see Pride streets occupied by cis, straight white people,
BIPOC queers are pushed into hiding.
I don’t know; I question what to do and how to celebrate.
What if the ability to imagine a furious, better world is a political power?
Then we shall never lose this power - not now, or ever.

I hope there are more ways for me to tell you my stories.
I hope my masked and unrecognisable outward appearance would be as colourful as my inner self.
I hope one day I can speak what I want on my chosen land -
In my language.
I hope I, with many others, can move freely between borders,
No longer, being separated nor alienated.
I hope the “solidarity” that we speak of
Is what we truly believe - in our mind and in our deeds.

[1] During the speech, the text is read by a non-Chinese speaker.
[2] This speech is delivered in English.
[3] Going to Bangkok and joining the Pride parade there is a comparatively accessible option for queer people in China wishing to participate in a march.
[4] Grassroots queer spaces in China are sites of daily resistance and form parts of community life. Many of these places remain hidden and stay underground, rarely known to those outside the community. Many queers live in isolated information gaps, often unable to access resources. Due to internet censorship in mainland China, many gender-related posts struggle to circulate, and deletion has become the norm. To circumvent censorship, Chinese queers have invented homophones or abbreviations. For example, during Pride Month in 2026, after a large number of posts related to "Pride Month" appeared on RedNote, netizens created the term “Humble Month” to refer to “Pride Month” as a form of sarcasm and celebration.
[5] In recent years, gender equality has rapidly regressed globally, especially regarding freedoms related to queer, trans, and women's rights. Online space has also been restricted. For instance, the removal and restriction of accounts on Meta's Instagram in 2026 through shadowbanning of LGBTQIA+, feminist, and related NGO content.

Workers for Palestine - English

As a queer migrant who arrived in Europe a few years ago, I was sold the idea that visibility was something to be celebrated. I'd never been to a Pride before, but I had imagined it continuing in the tradition of the brave who protested, rioted, fought and won — warriors who were mostly poor, racialised, and situated at the cornerstone of intersectional oppression.

It didn't take long for that image to shatter into a million pieces and get replaced by competing privileges parading themselves wrapped in corporate advertisement. Pride started feeling like King's Day — a day you want to escape at all costs, bury your face in an Audre Lorde book, and continuously watch the news coming from your burning lands while you try to make sense of it.

But today is not about that kind of pride. Not the pride that wants to capitalise on our identities and turn us into products for consumerism. Not the pride that wants to pinkwash colonialism and genocide. Today is Amsterdam Dyke March — because this march was established to highlight the importance of taking up space, while continuing in the footsteps of all the dykes and lesbians who came before us, carrying on the heritage and tradition of mutual aid and international solidarity. Something we need today more than ever.

I'm not going to preach to the choir: I know you all do heavy lifting when it comes to political organising and mutual aid. The dykes and the lesbians have always been busy like that! But gear up, people. Fascism isn't rising. It isn't one day going to arrive. It is here, all around us, proud and normalised. It isn't just in the streets at certain demonstrations, it isn't just on some fringe influencer's TikTok, it isn't just coming out of the mouths of politicians. It has already been made into policy and law. Draconian measures importing ICE-style rules from AmeriKKKa to Europe's Frontex have already passed by a landslide. And EU parliamentary members stood up, stomped, clapped and chanted “Send them back.” Let us stop believing that Europe is somehow a beacon of democracy and human rights and that the far right is a fringe marginal part of this society. Let us remember that this continent is the epicentre of empire — it has looted, extracted and underdeveloped 80 percent of this planet, and continues to do so.

And right on cue: this upcoming month, our city is going to be eaten up by rainbow capitalism under the guise of diversity and inclusion — more like uniformity and exclusion if you ask me. This year, Amsterdam Pride is sponsored by a hydra of multiple heads. They all appear in Francesca Albanese's report “From Economy of Occupation to Economy of Genocide” — companies that profit off apartheid and genocide, then come into Amsterdam under the guise of celebrating LGBTQ+ rights. Fuck that shit. To name a few of those monsters: Booking.com, Deutsche Bank, ING, KPN… and the list doesn’t end here.
This year, with Amsterdam Pride partnering up with World Pride, the two-week event is expected to attract around 2 million visitors. And you know who needs a vacation from taking part in a genocide? IOF soldiers who will be all over our home. The city welcomes these war criminals with open arms. SHAME!

So how do we connect our locality to Palestine and to the genocide there? Follow the money. We can protest today, but we also have to organise against the hijacking of our identities. Make sure these events don’t carry on with the normalisation of brutality under the guise of inclusion! Talk to your friends, neighbors, coworkers, lovers, partners, polycule, metamoure: have the difficult conversations. Why are you okay with that? Why would you attend an event paid for by blood money? Spread information, propaganda, alternatives. Learn to propagate our connections, our networks, our coalitions to survive and resist. Change our strategies. Wear your different drag personas for fighting best — be anonymous when you need to be, be public when you need to be. Look around you: people in this city need your solidarity.

And our role at the heart of empire is not disconnected from the rest of the world. We are aware that empires fall — and right before they do, they become more vicious and more violent than ever. The end of this empire is coming. And the places that suffer most are the ones where resources and access to capital are crucial for that empire. Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, Yemen, Syria are at the end of the barrel, shot by the watchdog of empire: the Zionist entity. Extractivism of gold, water and land theft is led by the UAE and its forces on the bloodied soil of Sudan. The whole world is doing its “green energy transition” on the theft and looting of the richest lands on Earth: the Congo. Venezuela wakes up to earthquakes shattering from all the fracking and oil pumping by the USA. And right here, at the borders of the EU, thousands of people are dying at sea. It isn’t the mediterranean killing them, it is Frontex and its borders. Our role is to support the ones at the end of barrels. Mutual aid works! Fundraise and suck the West dry, people! We need to send material means back in solidarity, mutual aid and forms of repair.

The empire is fucking up beyond repair. It won't be able to sustain itself much longer if we organize. Resistance should be breeding everywhere — in streets, in tunnels, in living rooms, in courtrooms. It needs to be everywhere! Long live the resistance! Long live queer resistance! Fuck capitalism and fuck Israel!

Crip Crap in Color - English

I’m a Black, Queer, Woman who is also disabled. I’m a Disabled Black Queer Woman, there’s no proper order, there’s no ranking, these are all vital parts of who I am. But with every one of these intersections the places where all of me belongs go from some, too few, to often none. The feminist space says with the best of intentions but little tangible effort that ‘everyone is welcome here,’ but nearly everyone is white and they stare at me and people keep asking me why I’m still wearing a mask. I guess everyone who isn’t immunocompromised is welcome? The Black Queer space my heart sings to find, tells me I belong, but doesn’t see ableism as a concern for their community, as if I am not part of their community. Where can I belong? Where can WE belong? We deserve to be in the room without being expected to leave parts of ourselves at the door or to earn our place by doing the labor of building a bridge to our own communities. While I can’t pretend to have all the answers, I can say that Crip Crap in Color is an invitation into creating the complex, messy, beautiful belonging we all deserve.

When we’re ready, Crip Crap in Color will rotate between different cities each month, three to start, and every fourth month will be a virtual gathering so people unable to travel between cities can still meet. We’ll be one part talking group for support and connection and one part community hang out. Crip Crap in Color is a space for racialized disabled, chronically ill and neurodivergent or mad community to be together however our body and minds are most at ease. You can lie down or move around a lot, wear your noise cancelling headphones, make eye contact or not, come and go as you like, plot revenge on your ableist boss, decorate or arm your mobility devices or anything else. And there will be snacks of course!

So to all of my babes of the global majority who hide our chronic pain to go to the event that feels like home to at least some parts of us: you are valid and you belong here. To my melanated people with PTSD from surviving racism whose big feelings are policed, sensitivity rejected, whose symptoms are untreated or unidentified: we belong to each other. To my Black friend, my Brown boo, if no one’s told you recently, the way your brain works is perfect the way it is, fuck that teacher, that doctor, or anyone else who told you different: you belong here, with me, with us. To my racialized baddies: self diagnosis, community diagnoses, what you know to be true about your own body and mind is enough, we will make home together.

If you recognize yourself, or just shyly think you might, I’m excited to meet you! Follow Crip_Crap_Community on IG to see what Crip Crap is doing already, and send us a DM and I’ll reach out personally about Crip Crap in Color so we can find out how much or little you’d like to be involved in shaping or attending our soon to launch events. <3

Fertile Ruins - English

Ohhh heeeey, Where my dykes at? Where my trannies? We got some faggots on street?

I was asked to speak on behalf of Fertile Ruins, a trans-led artist and activist organization, on the importance of art to our liberation movements. In this, I found myself thinking about the power of naming and its relationship to how we have survived the ravages of capitalism and found space to envision worlds out beyond the violence, at the end of the rainbow, where we will be when we are free. We are all of us named, so often with spiky tongues, and yet it was first among the dykes of my gifted family I first learned to say queer with a spoon balanced on my noise. It was in queer writing circles I first learned to spell trans as pens were thrown, uplifted in praise. It was among the trannies and faggots organizing parties cause our asses were never meant to be still I learn what artist felt like, flesh to flesh as sweat dripped from everywhere.

I want to give gratitude to all those who fought not only for our survival but for our dreamings as well. And we must dream. It is essential. Not so that we can live in the dream, but to bring back the hope and the lessons from the worlds our feral hearts can imagine. From the very real otherwise possibilities all around us. We must continue to fight like hell for the living and to do the work of imagining what else is possible.

Fertile Ruins is a space where we try to do both. Every other month we gather a group of artists to share with us their untamed experiments, their messy incantations to the otherwise possible. Each time is also a chance to gather resources and attention for an organization or mutual aid project doing the work of care, activism, organizing.

We see all around us signs that this worlding is ending. The ways we have made sense and understood our world are crumbling while discontinuities are racing towards us. Hard times are coming, we will experience incoherency as the world we were raised to live in falls a part. Yet, we have long histories of survival through incoherencies and violence. We have weathered plagues, survived witch hunts, and learned how to build community on the baracades while the policy rioted in our neighborhoods. We have many lessons to draw upon about making kinship, doing for each other what the state will never do for us, knowing who to trust and who to not. It is never the police.

As I come to an end, I’d like to take a moment to give voice to all those wilde hearts and broad shoulders we stand on? Can we give voice to all the dykes and queers and trannies and faggots and punks and bitches who gave so much that we might be possible? On the count of three lets all shout the names of those for whom we are grateful for. Does that sound ok? Ready? 1 2 3

Yarn Sisters - Nederlands

in mijn taal.
is waar we werkelijk in geloven—in onze geest én in onze daden.

Crip Crap in Color - Nederlands

Fertile Ruins - Nederlands

Ohhh heeeey, Where my dykes at? Where my trannies? We got some faggots on street?

“My friend was harassed by Chinese policemen because I joined pride parade in Thailand”[3]

Crip Crap in Color -

Fertile Ruins -

Fertile Ruins

No sé; me pregunto qué hacer y cómo celebrar.

Crip Crap in Color - Español

¿Preparadxs? 1, 2, 3
